What is insider trading?
Insider trading is the buying or selling of a publicly traded company's stock by someone who has non-public, material information about that stock.
Why does this matter?
Tracking internal buying and selling of a stock by company insiders is a fundamental part of due diligence that many casual traders ignore. It's definitely worth listening to the people who manage and understand how a company works from the inside.
How do I receive the alerts?
Currently just e-mail. Let us know if you'd prefer another method.
Is this legal?
Yes. Insiders are legally permitted to buy and sell shares, but the transactions must be registered with the SEC.
Legal insider trading happens often, such as when a CEO buys back company shares, or when employees buy stock in the company where they work
